The pink dentex (Dentex gibbosus) is one of the kings of rocky bottoms. The prominence of his skull is only visible on adult males. This deformation makes this sparidae species totally unique. It is very present in the northern tropical Atlantic, Morocco and in the Mediterranean, particularly in the waters of the Canary Islands archipelago where it is called Sama. Highly sought by fishermen for the quality of its flesh, it is caught with jig, maïdaï or tenya but the best way is with live bait. This fish is a cephalopods predator (cuttlefish and squid) and offers spectacular and intense fights. If you want to capture one, don't forget your live bait because no live bait means no party !
