Albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga) is an iconic species of the Basque Country where it has been caught one by one since Antiquity by experienced fishermen using bamboo rods. These animals carry out transoceanic migrations that change throughout their life cycle. Many juvenile albacore tuna enter the Bay of Biscay each summer in search of their favorite prey: the anchovy. We wanted to highlight this emblematic fish of our native region, where it is as popular as bluefin tuna and where the same fishing methods have been used since the 1950s.
